The Halle Institute for Economic Research (IWH) – Member of the Leibniz Association seeks to hire a

Student Assistant (f/m/x) for 40 h per month

initially limited to 6 months. An extension of the position is envisaged. The student assistant will support the Research Data Centre (RDC) in the development and implementation of data controlling. In particular, the systematic review of scientific publications in leading journals and the collection of statistics on data utilisation will be among the central tasks. In addition, the student assistant will be involved in other activities related to the RDC, e.g. documenting processes and organising data management.
Students of economics, social sciences, computer science or related subjects are offered the opportunity to gain an insight into the work of a research data centre, the organisation of modern data infrastructures and scientific research at the highest international level.

Areas of responsibility

  • Reviewing and analysing publications to collect statistics on data usage
  • Support in setting up and documenting data controlling processes
  • Assistance with the organisation and management of RDC data sets
  • Support with general tasks of the research data centre

Qualification and requirements

  • Confident and practised use of MS Office applications, in particular MS Excel
  • Great care in handling the corresponding data records
  • Experience with Large Language Models (LLMs) or interest in familiarising yourself with them
  • Reliability and ability to work independently
